Police Officers Had Sex With An Underage Human Trafficking Victim.

This was revealed as part of the evidence in the case said the Judiciary in a press statement issued on Friday as it highlighted T&T's first Human Trafficking conviction. The convict Tunapuna businessman Anthony Smith in September, absconded while on bail when he removed his electronic monitoring bracelet. He was nonetheless found guilty on November 2nd by a jury and sentenced to 15 years hard labour. National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds called a press briefing on Friday to speak about the conviction but no mention was made about the evidence that implicated police officers who allegedly had sex with the Venezuelan victim. According to the press statement issued by the Judiciary, this matter also appeared to have been heard within record time before Justice Geoffrey Henderson. Justice Henderson ordered the Registrar of the High Court to provide the Commissioner of Police with a copy of the transcripts of the proceedings to investigate the allegations made against members of the Police Service.
