A 21-year-old man was arrested after he was caught with a quantity of marijuana during an anti-crime exercise in Caroni on Thursday 30th November, 2023.
• Between 3:00pm and 6:00pm, officers of the Central Division Task Force (CDTF), Area South and Caroni K9 Unit were conducting an exercise, paying special attention to drug blocks in the Couva and Freeport area.
• During the exercise, the officers proceeded to the home of a priority offender along the Southern Main Road, Caroni, where they executed a warrant.
• Upon searching a bedroom, the officers discovered four rectangular objects, wrapped in red and brown plastic, each containing marijuana.
• The man was arrested and the narcotics, which weighed 2.1 kg, with an estimated street value of $65,000, were seized and conveyed to the Couva Police Station
• This exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt. Simon, Supt. Montrichard, Supt. Gyan, Asp Ablacksingh and Insp. Stewart and supervised by Sgt. Persad.
