A man was arrested for gun and ammo possession after dropping a relative to the hospital for injuries sustained by a C-4 bomb on Tuesday 21st November, 2023.
• Around 7:00am, a 21-year-old man was at his home on Francis Street, Lisas Boulevard, Couva, when he lit a C-4 bomb and attempted to throw it out the window.
• The bomb blew up on his hand, causing him to lose balance, stepping on a screw.
• The man took the screw out of his foot and was taken to the Couva district health facility by a male relative.
• Officers who were acting on information, then intercepted the relative’s pick-up van along Lisas Boulevard and noticed that he was not wearing a seatbelt.
• They also discovered that the vehicle was not inspected and issued tickets for the violations.
• A search was then conducted on the van which resulted in the discovery of a glock-19 semi-automatic pistol loaded with 15 live rounds of 9mm ammunition.
• The officers subsequently went to the family’s home and carried out another search where they found a blood-stained FEG pistol loaded with 6 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
• The suspect was arrested and investigations are ongoing
