Man, 22, Denied Bail On Aggravated Robbery Incident In Sangre Chiquito

A 22-year-old man who was charged in connection with a September 14th report of Robbery with Aggravation in Sangre Chiquito was denied bail today by a Sangre Grande magistrate.

STEPHAN ALEXANDER, 22, a labourer, of Coronation Road, Sangre Grande, who pleaded not guilty to the offence of Robbery with Aggravation, was remanded into custody by Magistrate Cheron Raphael and is expected to reappear before the court on November 27th, 2023.

ALEXANDER was arrested on October 31st and later charged on November 1st, by PC Samuel, of the Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department (CID), who was the lead investigator into the report in which a man told detectives that he was robbed of one silver ring and a Samsung S20 cell phone.

According to the report, at 9.15pm on September 14th, 2023, the man was seated in his vehicle at the Sangre Chiquito Recreation Grounds when he was allegedly approached by two men who announced a robbery, one armed with a firearm.

The suspects, police were told, made the man exit the vehicle and lie on the ground where he was relieved of his valuables.

The assailants then escaped from the scene.

A report was made to the police and police officers attached to the Sangre Grande CID and the Eastern Division Task Force responded, however, attempts to locate the suspects proved futile.

Following later enquiries, a suspect was held.

Investigations are ongoing into the case.
