Bandit Working At Police Station

Victim goes to report a robbery and sees one of the bandits working at the Police Station. A soldier assigned to the Mayaro Police Station is accused of staging a robbery with other persons while on duty, using an unmarked SUV with blue flashing lights. The soldier was positively identified by one of the victims while at the Mayaro Police Station where he went to lodge a report on the incident, and he was subsequently detained. The incident happened at the home of a businessman at Makeking Road in Mayaro shortly before 5 pm on Monday 20th November 2023. Three victims were at their home when 6 men, some dressed in military and the others in police tactical attire emerged from a heavily tinted black SUV with blue lights. Two of the suspects were dressed in police tactical wear, one had on plain clothes while the three others were in military attire. The suspects, who were all armed with firearms, announced themselves as police and soldiers and indicated they were investigating a report of an arson nearby and wanted to view CCTV footage. The occupants of the house allowed the officers inside and the suspects pointed their weapons at them and announced a robbery. The three victims were tied up and more than $60,000 in cash, jewelry, cell phones, and the DVR were stolen by the six suspects who fled in the vehicle. A report was subsequently made to the police and officers took them to the Mayaro District Health Facility for medical treatment. While making their way into the Charge Room of the Mayaro Police Station, one of the victims saw one of the robbery suspects who was dressed in military attire. He was identified to police officers and subsequently taken into custody. The officer, identified as 37-year-old Army Private Anthony Waldron Reg. No. 12417, is a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment who is assigned to the Mayaro Police Station. He was also on duty at the time of his arrest and the robbery. The area at the Station where TTR members occupied was searched but nothing of evidential value was found by police,
