A Port of Spain chain snatcher was shot by a security guard at City Gate on Saturday.
The 19-year-old was among three suspects who attempted to rob a man of a gold chain while at City Gate.
An Estate Constable employed with Amalgamated Security Services intervened.
During a scuffle with the suspects who attempted to take the man's chain, one of the suspects is alleged to have attempted to reach for the officer's firearm and she shot him in the face and chest.
Another suspect was also shot during the incident and fled towards the Sea Lots Port of Spain community.
The wounded suspect was subsequently taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he was treated and warded under police guard.
Investigations are continuing into the incident.
