Five men are now in police custody after the officers mounted a quick response to a report of robbery in the Trincity on Wednesday 1st November,2023.
Around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Cpl Andrews and Cpl Joseph were on mobile patrol along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, in the vicinity of Trincity Mall when they received a report of a robbery incident. The report indicated that four men robbed a woman of an undisclosed sum of cash at a car park of a pharmacy in the Trincity area, and were making their escape when their vehicle crashed at the entrance of the said car park. The men then allegedly ran off south in the direction of the Trincity Mall.
The officers sprang into action and were able to obtain useful information about the suspects. The officers scoured the mall in search of the suspects, and they found the two suspects hiding. They were arrested and handed over to the Arouca Police. The officers continued their investigations, and the other suspects were subsequently arrested.
This arrest came hours after the Arouca Police District, rolled out their ‘Christmas Crime Plan’ which focuses on commercial shopping areas and malls, and residential areas by applying strategic responses targeted crimes.
