Matthew 7:13-14
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Believers so many of us are satisfied with the status of a casual and carnal Christian.
We are so absorbed with ourselves we live to satisfy our carnal desires and our fleshly appetites rather than pleasing God.
Believers being a Christian is not business as usual. It requires transformation ( change). It is forsaking our sinful ways and desires to follow Chist wholeheartedly.
Romans 12:1-2
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
In other words , I beg you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Believers serving God takes sacrifice and self denial.
Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
What Jesus is saying here, for someone to follow him they must wear the badge of , love,suffering,sacrifice, self denial. These are the emblems of the cross.
Believers serving God takes a lot of effort. In my native language we say " It takes a whole heap of effort "
Serving God is a decisive action to turn from sin and submit to the authority and leading of the Lord Jesus Christ. In submitting to God's authority it means obedience to his words.
Serving God is intentional and deliberate . It is about forking the things that pleases you to a life directed towards pleasing God .
It is a complete new way of living. It requires the total man , a 360 degrees turn from sin to God. Whatever you do or say you must be cognizant that you are in the presence of HOLY GOD so you must be holy in all conversation and conduct.
1 Peter 1:14-16 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Matthew 7:13-14 exhorts us You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way.
But the gateway to everlasting life is very narrow , and only a few ever find it.
Children of God let us choose the narrow road that leads to eternal life
Let us not PRESUMPTUOUSLY AND WILFULLY SIN AGAINST GOD. Do not grieve the spirit of God by sinning wilfully against him.
Let us rid ourselves of bitterness, unforgiveness, hatred,envy,coveteousness, jealousy, unkindness, lies,stealing, lust,adultery, fornication, homosexuality and all the be setting sins. Indulgence in these will only lead to a devil's Hell.
Therefore " Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage "( Galatians 5:1)
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Death here means spiritual death, and ultimately eternal hell, forever separated from God.
People of God live holy, live clean, without holiness you cannot make it to heaven.
Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Believers SHUN HELL
Philippians 2:12 work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
